They Sing in foreign tongues

Now, meet two more Korean artistes who have crossed the language bridge - John Hoon and Howl. Coincidentally, both rose to fame in the popular drama serial Goong. You knew him as Kim Jeong Hoon, or Prince Yul from the drama series but hew now answers to John-Hoon - his stage name for his japanese debut.

Formerly one-half of K-pop duo UN, the 26 year old has released a Japanese mini-album entitled 5 Stella Lights, which comprises five songs and five instrumental versions. "This is my first piece of work after going solo and the happiest thing for me is that the whole album is made up of my voice only'' The actor-singer told Japan's All About magazine. John-Hoon said Japanese pronunciation was difficult especially sounds like "tsu", "zu' & "za", which he had never heard before. "The toughest part is I'm not sure which part of the lyrics to emphasie to bring out the song's meaning and emotions, and i can't tell slight differences(in pronounciation). Because of that, i spent a lot of time asking (the composers) for advise". But the hard work paid off. Hailed as one of the "new generation" of Korean Wave stars in Japan, he embarked on a 2 month concert tour in the country last week.

When asked about his ideal girl, John-Hoon said: "I prefer feminie girls".
